The list below shows some of the best places to find and download free space images. We recommend that you check out a few different sites and find one or more that suit your needs. Some are simply repositories of space-related images, others allow you to create your own space photo albums and share your images with other space enthusiasts.

HubbleSite Gallery		A stunning collection of Hubble Space Telescope images.
NASA Multimedia Gallery		Video and still images from current space missions. Great for the latest news but not so good for archived files.
NASA Image Exchange		Searchable database of images.
Astronomy Picture of the Day		A new (fairly random) inage each day.
Great Images in NASA (GRIN)		Images of historical interest.

Notes:

Some sites charge for images that you can get elsewhere for free. Shop around — there are plenty of public domain images and you probably shouldn't have to pay for what you need.
The "official" sites are often the best but not always. Some of the independent sites are better organised and allow much faster access to files. They also tend to have images from a variety of sources.
Always check copyright and terms of use. NASA images are generally free and very permissive but other agencies may not be. Personal collections by independent photographers often have licensing fees and/or conditions.
